The CBC/Radio Canada (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) this evening (9 PM EST) aired an unusually poignant one-hour special honouring Canada's war-fallen, blessedly devoid of all politicos and chock-full-to-bursting with the thoughts of those who have survived wherein their comrades had not.
Especially of interest to viewers was the segment on CBC War Correspondents throughout the years, and that the entire hour was without "product" advertisements, the CBC choosing instead to re-air in their place periodically during the programme sundry award-winning PSA's that have run both this year (the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Legion) and in those prior, each commemorating one facet or another of this annual remembrance event.

Not in this production, but during this week, I remember and misquote a comment by someone having lived through the relentless bombing of Coventry England in early WWII, "After seeing what I have, I just could not and cannot believe in a god."
Another, "Believe me, whether you believe in God or not, if you are in that kind of hell you will pray."
Sadly, the worst "hell on earth" always seems to be created by people; war, famine, genocide, slavery, endless brutality, emotional torment and bullying.
