By Brody Levesque (Washington DC) Apr 30 | There's a saying that the only thing faster than a bored person with a finger on the channel changer button on a television remote is a bored person with a finger hovering over a mouse button while browsing the internet. It's true, most folk these days have the attention spans of gnats... as evidenced by the amount of time clicking in & out of web pages especially blogs. How do I know this you ask? Well, I Googled it of course!
The battle for all website owners is to find the perfect 'hook' to grab a readers' attention and compel them to stay and not click out in search of tastier fare elsewhere. Well, deep in the bowels of New York City, resides a website owner whose not only perfected the art of the hook but elevated it to a whole new level by virtue of his blunt, seriously funny & edgy look at issues, news, events, and subjects important to the LGBT community at large.
Today marks the six anniversary of Joe.My.God as a must read daily. In fact, this old fossil of a journalist rates a cup of 'Joe' as just as critical to his morning routine as a cup of coffee, you know, that 'other' Joe. More than once I've spewed coffee all over the place laughing at Joe's wit, practical delivery, and choice of topics not to mention his comments on life around him. He often reminds me of a favoured character in a long running serial, you know the time, unafraid to say what's on his mind coupled with a look that would intimidate most folks into not pissing him off if they disagreed of course not realising that he actually wouldn't dismember them, at least not physically at any rate.
Joe.My.God is the type of take-no-prisoners/no-holds-barred activist style citizen-journalism and Op-Eds that fuel the imagination as well as stoke the fires of passion in a effective and meaningful way. If you find that less than credible, just go read the comments sections after Joe's posts, you'll immediately agree with that last statement.
My heartfelt congrats to Joe Jervis on six marvelous years and I very much look forward to the future.
Oh, did I mention that Joe is a cuddly 'bear' of a man? Well, for the most part.......
