Keith Olbermann
By Mark Singer (Washington DC) DEC 17 | In an interview with MSNBC's Keith Olbermann on Countdown last night, Representative Barney Frank, (D-MA), tells him "I am overwhelmingly confident we're going to get rid of this!"
The Congressman also took aim at remarks made by South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint, (R), echoing those made earlier in this week by Marine Corps Commandant General James Amos who told reporters in a Pentagon briefing that he felt Gay & Lesbians serving openly would be a 'distraction.' Congressman Frank said that the real distraction was the policy itself.
When asked by Olbermann, if, in the unlikely event there was a successful GOP filibuster overturning Senate efforts to end the policy would President Barack Obama drop his ongoing defense of it in the current court cases, Frank stated that based on conversations he had with the White House, he believed that was the case.
