By Brody Levesque (Washington DC) Mar 6 | KUSA 9News in Denver, Colorado is reporting that the segment aired Thursday on the preschooler banned from a local Catholic school because his parents are Lesbians has gained significant national media attention.
According to 9News, some parents are also considering pulling their children out of that Catholic preschool after school officials told the family that the student could not return because parents who enroll their kids at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic School are expected to follow the Catholic Church's beliefs & that the student's parents, who are two women, violate the school's beliefs and policy because of their homosexual relationship
The local community is also outraged and expressed its disgust in a rally held at Wesley Chapel, a Boulder Church near the Sacred Heart of Jesus school. One of the speakers was Wesley Chapel Pastor Roger Wolsey who remarked;
"This could be one of those moments where the community is holding a mirror up to the church for it to take a look at its policy and reconsider what they've been doing. They're entitled to do what they want," Wolsey said. "And I would respect them no matter what they decide. [But] I think a lot of churches are doing a lot of soul searching right now."
Parents whose kids attend Sacred Heart plan on meeting next week to discuss the issue. One parent told 9News; "We're all very hurt by this decision."
