PORTLAND TEXAS -- A teen-aged lesbian couple were found shot in a public park in this small Texas resort community just northeast across the bay from Corpus Christi. According to a Portland Police spokesperson, two visitors to the Violet Andrews Park stumbled upon the two young women lying in the grass early Saturday.
Nineteen-year-old Mollie Judith Olgin was found dead on the scene and 18-year-old Mary Christine Chapa was rushed to the hospital and remains in serious but stable condition. Investigators believe the women were shot some time around midnight on Friday.
A police spokesperson told LGBTQNation that detectives do not believe this was a random incident, but are not disclosing information regarding a potential motive. Police are also not saying whether or not the pair's sexual orientation was reason for the shooting.

In a statement released to LGBTQNation, Portland Police Chief Randy Wright said; “That’s always something that we’re looking for, but as of this point, we have not been able to establish that that had anything to do with the attack.” He added that the crime did not appear to be “just a random attack.”
Friends of the couple told police that the girls had been dating for about five months.
