Editorial... Enough Of the Cultural War Already

By Brody Levesque | Bethesda, Maryland -- This started off as a news 'brief' but the more I researched and read on the topic, the angrier I got, and thus you gentle readers get treated to a tirade, rant, futile screaming session, or something of that nature. Here's what got me going this time.

Once again, a so-called "Family Values" [read christian] group has declared war on yet another slice of life because... wait for it, that terrible homosexual agenda has struck again threatening decent and good Americans across this nation. [ Remind me to complain that I obviously skipped class the day the homosexual agenda handout got passed out.]

The organisation that calls itself the "American Decency Association " is pissed because an electronic video game maker is *gasp* allowing gay characters:

In a new Star Wars video game, it seems that ‘the dark side” is now winning in a battle for the hearts and mind of our children. Bioware, the company that developed the video game, Star Wars: The Old Republic, had firmly stated in 2009 that they would not bow to pressure from homosexual extremists who were demanding that gay and lesbian content be added to the video game then in development. Bioware claimed it was their policy to remain neutral.

Now Bioware has violated its own policy – as well as the values of millions of parents who don’t want their kids indoctrinated with pro-homosexual propaganda. Instead, Bioware has caved to a handful of vitriolic LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, Transgender) protesters and is adding a special “same-sex romance” component to the video game.

Accordingly, and no small surprise, the Florida Family Association, an affiliate of the Southern Poverty Law Center's listed hate group, the so-called American Family Association was the brainless child behind this latest ludicrous attack on LGBTQ people.

The Florida Family Association, who you will remember was the organisation that hired a small aircraft to pull a banner behind it warning all decent persons that Walt Disney World was having a "Gay Day-" declared that the homosexual agenda was being advanced in children's video games:

Florida Family Association sent out an email alert on March 5, 2012 which reported “LGBT (lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender) extremists pressure Star Wars video game maker to commit to add homosexual content and censor critics.” 

These LGBT activists are pummeling Florida Family Association with dozens of emails advocating that homosexuality should be in Star Wars video games. They advocate that teens are old enough to make their own decisions about their sexual preference and declare that our speech should not be protected by the First Amendment. 

During the development of the Star Wars the Old Republic video game LGBT (lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender) activists demanded inclusion of homosexual content. BioWare, the game developer, declined. They stated that their policy is to ensure political neutrality and equality.

This prompted a LGBT organization to contact BioWare with threats of boycotts. BioWare backed down and issued a statement that they will include homosexual content some time in the future.

1.7 million copies of the game have been sold. 35 members of the LGBT community have conducted the latest poll on this topic. 35 players are holding the rest of the world hostage to force this offensive content on a captured audience of hundreds of thousands of children.

By the way, the FFA never actually disclosed who this alleged LGBT organisation was.

Then today comes this gem:

"What makes this so dangerous is despite what the labels say, the actual purchasing market for these games is often young males ages 11-16. This age group is not yet mature enough to not be impacted by these life decisions. There is no argument that video gaming is an extremely effective training tool. These young minds will be indoctrinated to homosexual relationships as normal lifestyles with homosexual characters being portrayed as heroes in warfare and in romantic situations." - American Decency Association board member Steve Ensley.

Which mirrors what a so-called christian investment/mutual funds advice website entitled Cultural Polluters darkly warns:

For quite some time Cultural Polluters has been watching BioWare, a division of Electronic Arts, due to overwhelming extreme and immoral content in their gaming (see Products). A quick review shows they have no concern about the impact these games have on our families and our culture. Some video games can be especially dangerous because we, as humans, process things mentally through images. The content in some of these games directly affect a person's psychic roots. By playing these games, many young minds are trained that the best way to solve life’s problems is through violence. Many of the school shootings we see on national news since the advent of violent video games should be ample evidence of their danger.

Not every child turns to guns and violence as a result; however, serious gamers have a propensity to develop an angry victim mentality that can affect all of their relationships.

The latest attack on our culture from gaming is the result of a small, yet very vocal, group insisting that homosexual behaviors and lifestyles be introduced into a Star Wars game. If they are successful, their actions could further indoctrinate children into the belief that homosexual behavior is completely natural, before their minds have developed fully enough to make their own choices and decisions.

Look, I am so sick of these self righteous cretins telling the rest of us how to live our lives, how to raise our children, and who we can marry or love. This so called cultural war is getting on my last nerve and I'll wager, sooner or later, this small nasty vocal so-called christian minority is going to find itself in a real bad way because its just finally crossed a line and someone is going to lose the plot followed by the domino effect.
