By Tim Trent | Dartmouth, England -- We weep for Matthew Shepard. He was part of "our" lives. Will we weep for Caio Lhennysson da Silva? who called himself Ká Stock? I will.
I knew neither boy. All I know of each of them is that he was murdered, brutally. I know each boy was homosexual. I know each boy was good looking. I know each boy had his whole life ahead of him.
Matthew, pistol whipped and left hung on a fence to die, he is the poster child, poor boy, for those beaten and killed by homophobic, sadistic lunatics. Caio Lhennysson da Silva was killed, raped, suffocated, in Brazil, left half naked and with his mouth filled with sand.
I have some links for you:
http://www.jofagner.com/2011/05/luto-ate-quando-dilma.html - for this you will need to translate the page. But you can see Caio. He's an ordinary boy, with striking looks. I used Google Translate:
The young man was walking home around midnight from a party with friends when he left them at home and went walking to his residence. According to the victim's friend testified that when the body was found, signs of strangulation, stabbing and rape were in place, and had broken teeth and to be found with his mouth full of dirt, and no underwear. After this barbaric crime, I can only ask "what's up? How many more lives will be sacrificed to what our leaders learn that any mother's heart must go through the scene to find her dead child in this way? When will they learn that the only 'option 'What is at stake is to punish or ignore the fact that our society needs codes of law to punish this kind of attitude? ". The message got the point now?
On his Facebook page he chooses, chose, to be called Ká Stock. There he is an ordinary seventeen year old lad:
Well, my name is''Ka''Stock, more can call me kaio. I am 17 years old, live dreaming, wondering .. and you know, I like it!I believe that one day I will have my own world and paint it red, hahaha.I'm Libra, my religion is ubuntu which I have so much respect and much wonder.Let my style of clothing and accessories, not labels, I'm very eclectic.Have a certain fascination with makeup and hair, reading this you would imagine, the kaio must be emo or goth or even androgynous! No more! not even!I have a unique style, and labels are nonsense.if I make a question like, which singer / band you like or hear more?I would not know to answer because there are many, and look much the style of clothes and hair and the lyrics, it pleases me and I called attention. But I would respond Ney Matogrosso, he is a great artist and a composer wonderful.Surely if I crossed the street with you, do not recognize, because I'm PECIME remembering things, so do not ask me questions indecent.Hate promiscuity, then do not be promiscuous, be yourself, maybe I interest you?
Who was he? He was just a boy. He was a son. He was loved. He had friends. Now they mourn his death, and his death was not a gentle death. Look at his facebook picture:

He's a boy, just a boy. And now he's just another dead faggot, according to the comment made to US Journalist and Gay Rights Activist Brody Levesque, who said to me while investigating this story "I have spoken to an official with the provincial police who have no suspects at this time & whose attitudes were more or less: 'another dead fag-oh well.'"
http://himitsunokokoro.tumblr.com/ shows another picture of this child, this dead child. And this comment sticks in my heart:
I never thought that in my city I was read a so terrible news. The young boy was killed cowardly just because was homo. If do things like that, hate, and kill people just because they are diferente of you, is be human, I prefer not be human anymore!

And Ká Stock, what legacy does his death leave? Is he now 'another dead fag-oh well'? Or is his short life worth more than that?
Each of us can do something. Some of us can do great things, others can do small things, but we can, each of us, do something. One small thing is to start to shame local police officials into investigating this crime, this murder, this hate crime, and bringing the offenders to justice. Brazil is not some backward rogue state. Brazil is a proud nation. Apparently.
What will you do?

Apparently, or apparently not?
Me, I will wait. I will wait until there is some form of directed protest to which I can add my voice. Avaaz is usually pretty decent with this type of thing, and I eagerly await their leadership. Nah. Maybe I'll contact them to ask them to start something rolling, and then I'll go to bed to sleep poorly, thinking about this latest travesty.
