Brody's Notes... Maryland State Senator Unhappy With Same-Sex Marriage Foes

By Brody Levesque (Annapolis, Maryland) FEB 9 | A Democrat state senator from Baltimore County, Maryland, is not pleased after listening to several hours of testimony on the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Protection Act in hearings held yesterday to a large spillover crowd in the Miller Senate Office building in Annapolis.
Baltimore County Sen. James Brochin was angered over testimony brought forth by opponents of the proposed measure which included representatives from the Rhode Island based National Organisation for Marriage and Peter Spriggs from the Family Research Council, telling reporters afterward:
"The demonization of gay families really bothered me," Brochin said. "Are these families going to continue to be treated by the law as second class citizens?"
Based on yesterday's hearing, Brochin has said earlier this morning that he may support the bill. The Senator had previously stated he was against same-sex marriage.

Interesting. If one mounts an attack that is too nasty and illogical even those generally on your side will be alienated.
