Really, this obscure, ignorant, irrelevant Christian isn’t just wrong – he can’t even get his facts straight. What do dying Christian media companies do when they’re losing relevancy? They write controversial inflaming articles to try to grab media attention. I won’t post a link to this article here because I don’t want this guy to benefit from his ridiculous remarks. At this point, the Christian Newswire is nothing more than a blog itself – with fewer readers than my own.

Gary states that the only reason for American Idol’s ratings drop is “the glaringly obvious reason: Miss DeGeneres is a lesbian activist.” Let’s just pretend for a moment that Ellen wasn’t even on the show. If that was true, what would have been the compelling reason to have watched American Idol this season? Can’t think of one? Exactly. Nothing stood out! Not the contestants, not the judges, not the songs – nothing.
Let’s face it – the honeymoon with American Idol was over a long time ago. American Idol’s decline started way before Ellen ever entered the picture. Ryan Seacrest is cute, but not compelling enough on his own for me to tune in. I would argue that Ellen DeGeneres actually saved the show. The only reason someone like myself tuned in this season was to see Ellen work her magic - to breathe the fresh air she brought to the show.
Gary goes on to say…“Here is my next prediction. There will be no left wing social activist as a judge for the tenth season of American Idol. Not only will DeGeneres be gone, she will not be replaced by anyone close to a Rosie O'Donnell wanna-be.” Wow! He just threw himself in between Ellen and Rosie! Dude are you crazy?

This is the same type of person who believes that because oil in the gulf resembles blood in the ocean – that the apocalypse is at hand! “Some Say BP's Oil Spill Heralds the Apocalypse” is an actual Newsweek article.
As a blogger who has been read by Rosie on her Sirius satellite radio show I found myself asking the question “How could I possibly go more viral than Rosie?” The answer… by being read on Ellen’s show! Clearly Gary is out of touch with the popularity of the Lesbians he likes to criticize but secretly admires.
Believe it or not, this article actually gets even more ridiculous. Gary goes on to say “Perhaps next we will see the pro-pedophilia group NAMBLA use its influence in Hollywood to have "Dancing with the Stars" seat Roman Polanski as a judge.”
Gary! Roman Polanksi is straight… he plays for your team. He slept with a 13 year old girl, not a 13 year old boy. NAMBLA, which is as fringe to the Gay community as Apocalyptic Oil Christians are to your community has nothing to do with this argument. NAMBLA is an organization that promotes sex between men and boys NOT between men and girls. NEWSFLASH: If you wore a NAMBLA t-shirt to a Gay Pride event you’d probably be beat up! We don’t endorse or condone sleeping with underage kids. I would think someone who is fighting for God would at least check their facts. If you don’t owe it to God you owe to your little Earned Media organization and the Christian Newswire. Maybe you’re the reason the have no relevancy? They should be looking for another sensationalist director who can at least get his facts straight.
Gary Hollywood hasn’t forsaken ratings… they’ve embraced them. American Idol may never return to the ratings it once had but Ellen stopped the slide from being worse than it could have been this season.
