By Tim Trent | DARTMOUTH, DEVON, UK -- The FBI made headlines when it 'consulted' with Westboro Baptist Church when educating its staff on dealing with urban terrorists, cranks, bigots and nut jobs. Unfortunately a different set of cranks, bigots and nutjobs failed to read beyond the headlines and that lot went overboard in self righteous indignation.
Phelps and his brood and their evil, spiteful, loathsome church are a great place to study people who offer pretty much peaceful yet totally objectionable protest. They are very careful to stay within the rules. By doing so they taunt others to react. I'm very pleased they are banned form the UK. The USA is welcome to them. And, by opening a dialogue with them, the FBI has learned more about them, their ethos, their morality and their methods. Good.
It seems that no money changed hands.
"Both the FBI and Timothy Phelps said no pay was involved."
Good.

All I can see to argue with is the FBI's PR gaffe in letting this story escape into the wild in a way that can be misinterpreted and in the gut reaction of the LGBT-friendly nutjobs in reacting to the headline without reading, or without understanding the article.
That reaction shows the same irrationality that Westboro itself shows.

Sometimes it saddens me when the LGBTQ community members seem to be virtually the same as the non-LGBTQ community; when they are just as shallow, irrational, and unthinking in their actions and responses. Obviously gender orientation really does only make you a bit different, and not better in any way.
