Brody's Scribbles... I Got This In My Mailbox Tonight & I Am Really Pissed

By Brody Levesque | Tonight I came home from a long busy day covering the news and events of the world at large intent on relaxing, and as I waited for my dinner to cook I idly went through the mail I retrieved from my flat's mailbox.

Much to my disgust and then mounting anger what do I find? An attack flyer from the National Organisation for Marriage. Look closely at the jpeg to the left of this column, enlarge it, take in the pile of lies and hatred printed on it. What a boatload of bullshit!

I'm not angered simply because I am a gay man-no that's not it. What has me pissed is that the so-called Family Values people are taking aim at the LGBT community to bar us from what is our fundamental human rights to enjoy freedom and liberty based on some archaic fairytale out of an ancient BADLY mistranslated book of pure mythology.
Folks look- I have long been a supporter of religious freedoms and even today with the Supreme Court decision, that granted the Westboro Baptist Church their first amendment rights to completely leave a verbal feces stain on the public discourse with their bizarre form of "religious" beliefs, still grant that persons are entitled to their own personal beliefs. But I have to say, no, make that scream out loud that I think I have finally had enough of these pious alleged puritans who have made it their mission to inflict, impose, and run over others with their so-called Christian/Muslim/Jewish/Whatever Bronze Age religious claptrap and theocratic ways.
There is not a single, provable, shred of evidence or set of facts that same-sex marriage inflicts any kind of irreparable harm to heteronormal marriage. In fact, the so-called proponents of traditional marriage inflict more damage themselves with their cheating, divorces, and other various forms of adultery.
The argument that the United States was founded as a Judeo-Christian nation  and as such these clowns are simply following in the established precedents of its founders is a load of bullshit too.
For crying out loud, the last thing the founders of this republic wanted was a theocracy and went out of their way to carefully construct a document to prevent that, which you all know as the separation of church and state clause in the venerable U. S. Constitution.
I am going to count to five, take a deep breath, and contemplate writing a very in-depth essay about this nonsense to publish later on.
For those of you that are interested in viewing all the junk hate fliers mailed out today to Maryland residents, the Washington Blade's Editor-In-Chief, Kevin Naff, has the current set of them here: [ LINK ]
Oh, one more thing, I think its time NOM unveiled its true self in the form of at least an honest graphic representation of their organisation's logo don't you? (see below)

impose? Impose, just where is it in the legislation that says people must marry someone of the same sex.

The whole idea is to allow people to choose whom they marry, but NOM and their associated organisations would turn this choice on its head into a compulsory opposite sex only marriage, on the basis of their misunderstanding of what constitutes a long term tradition.

Equality does not impose opportunity, it liberates it. It is NOM which seeks to limit and thus impose its misleading propaganda on the people.

Nom is in need of a frontal lobotomy as their self imposed shock treatment seems to have crucified their ability to understand what freedom really means.
