Brody's Notes... Transgender 'Thailand's Got Talent' Singer Stuns Judges & Audience Alike

Nantita Khumpiramon via Thailand's Got Talent
By Mark Singer (Washington DC) MAR 21 When beautiful 27 year old the beautiful Nantita Khumpiramon started singing in a silky, very feminine falsetto during her performance on “Thailand’s Got Talent” two weeks ago, virtually no one in the audience nor the show's three judges were prepared for what occurred happened halfway through the song.
Khumpiramon shocked the audience and judges alike when she abruptly switched into her real, male voice as her beautiful soprano morphed seamlessly into a masculine tenor midway through her debut performance.
When she finished, the audience, some of who had already leaped to their feet waving their arms in time to the music, gave her a standing and boisterous ovation.
The judges looked absolutely dumfounded as did the show's hosts, who were left shaking their heads, saying, “I love her already.” Lead judge Nirut Sirijany, the resident "Simon Cowell" type critic, shook a finger at Khumpiramon saying, “You have deceived me, it is impossible.”
His fellow judge Pornchita Na Songkhla said, “She’s beautiful, isn’t she? When the song changed I was stunned. We all were.”
The successful audition was an emotional one for Khumpiramon, who explained that she was teased her entire life for being a transsexual and was abused by her father, who wanted her to be “normal.” In a message to her disapproving father, Khumpiramon looked into the camera and said, “I love you. I have finally made it now.”
