Brody's Notes... Former Decorated Gay Marine SSGT Eric Alva On USMC Commandant: "Conduct Unbecoming"

By Mark Singer (Washington DC) DEC 16 | Last night MSNBC host Rachel Maddow, interviewed former Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Eric Alva, who was the first wounded American in the opening days of the war on Iraq, suffering the loss of his right leg and suffering other severe injuries. He was later awarded the Purple Heart by former President George W. Bush and was given an honorable medical discharge from the Marine Corps.
SSGT Alva, who is openly Gay, learning of the remarks made during a press briefing Tuesday at the Pentagon by the Commandant of Marines, General James Amos, referring to the repeal of 'Don't Ask-Don't Tell,"Mistakes and inattention or distractions cost Marines lives. That's the currency of this fight...I don't want to lose any Marines to the distraction. I don't want to have any Marines that I'm visiting at Bethesda with no legs be the result of any type of distraction," told Maddow that he was offended by the Commandant's words and found Amos' attitude and remarks to be "Conduct Unbecoming."
