Brody's Notes... California Police Chief Apologises For Calling Gays ‘Filthy Mother F*****s’

By Editors LGBTQNation (Phoenix, Arizona) DEC 30 | Palm Springs California Police Chief, David Dominguez, has issued an apology for remarks he made during 2009 a sex sting in the Warm Sands neighborhood that targeted gay men.
“What a bunch of filthy mother-f*****s,” Dominguez was heard saying on a recording during the investigation.
“You guys should get paid extra for this,” he said to his officers.
“An inappropriate comment made by me did not display the utmost professional conduct expected from the chief of police and I sincerely apologize to the community at large,” Dominguez said, after the city issued a report on the incident.
The sting operation in June 2009 was conducted in response to what police said were complaints about drug use, public sex and prostitution, but some people complained that police were targeting gay men unfairly. The sting netted about 2 dozen arrests.
Attorney Roger Tansey, who is defending six men who were arrested during the sting, said police acted with discriminatory intent. According to court documents, another officer was overheard using the slur “cocksuckers.”
For months Dominguez had disputed allegations that he was the officer who made the slur.
City Manager David Ready also offered his apology, saying a report on the sting showed police were unprofessional and made offensive comments.
