By Brody Levesque (Washington DC) July 12 | From a press release from Stonewall.UK earlier today:Stonewall, the campaign group for lesbian, gay and bisexual rights, has become a main sponsor of UK Black Pride 2010, the biggest celebration of African, Asian, Caribbean, Middle Eastern and Latin American LGBT people and friends in Britain on Saturday 14 August.
Stonewall has spent 21 years fighting for the rights of LGB people. From equalising the age of consent; to repealing Section 28; from civil partnerships rights, to enabling same-sex couples to adopt, Stonewall has a proud record of lobbying and winning.

The theme of this year’s UK Black Pride event is: ‘Pride, A Deeper Love’ and will take place on Saturday 14 August in the beautiful Regents Park, London. Background
Last year’s festival was the most successful community led Black LGBT event with 1,500 attendees, and statements of support from the Prime Minister, and leading Black and LGBT activists. The success lay firmly in organisers’ ability to attract a diverse crowd of beautiful LGBT friendly people from all races and genders, as well as the endless supply of music entertainment, drinks and sunshine!
Acts that performed in 2009 included the UK Queen of Soul Beverley Knight, UK Funky crown-princess Meleka, as well as LGBT urban scene DJ’s: Biggy C; Big John Freeman; Terry T-Rex; Jeffrey Hinton; Philly; Nubian Soul; Saj and V (Urban Desi); Sensi, Goodaz and G, who played r’n’b, funky, grime, old skool, hip hop, reggae, soul, calypso, desi beats and bashment. UK Black Pride’s club partners include: Angel Crew, Blessence; Bootylicious; Caribana, Emerald Productions, Hustlers vs Divas, Oak Bar, Oysters UK, Queer Nation, Soul Naturelle, Sugar Rush, Urban Desi and WORK!
