By Brody Levesque (Bethesda, Maryland) June 19 | Yesterday I ran an article by New York based Joe.My.God's Joe Jervis, reporting on a piece originally published by Pam Spaulding of Pam's House Blend from Charlotte, North Carolina. [ Brody's Scribbles... These Two Are Offensive Embarrassing Redneck Stereotypes ] The article included a YouTube video embedded that as of 3PM EST today has been removed & made 'private,' which means only apparently certain folk are allowed to view it.
Apparently these Birmingham, Alabama based radio personalities are only too glad to spread hateful rhetoric when they feel that they can get away with it. Barring that, and since there truly is no other explanation, apparently these two obviously cannot stand up under public scrutiny of an audience larger than their own listenership there in Birmingham.
I will imagine given how widely popular both Joe Jervis & Pam Spaulding are in the blogosphere, and since they both linked to a Facebook page calling on the sponsors of those pathetic cretins to yank their adverts because of the blatant homophobic nonsense, these two needed to remove the video from further public viewing. Too bad really as it served up the perfect example of why Gay Pride needs to be acknowledged.
The following is a screen-shot showing the video on their archive page from their show's webpage:
Of course as always, Joe's regular readers weighed in with amusing & spot on commentary and I found this one particularly suited to the situation:
UrbanPioneer says:
“I live in Birmingham and work with a deeply religious white man. Read that as bigoted redneck! I am subjected to Rick and Asshat on a regular basis and it drives me nuts. More than once I have yanked the power from the radio and yelled that I will NOT listen to two fat fucks play verbal smear the queer on live radio."

Where I worked there was a no radio no music rule, so any comments HAD to be personally delivered, not by radio messenger. It is interesting how few people will actually say anything derogatory in a public workplace. I guess that's a good thing; they obviously know they're on tenuous ground and don't have a large appreciative audience.
I have received an email response from Academy sports and an email and phone call from Bojangles assuring me that they have warned Rick Burgess personally that if he offends in this way one more time their sponsorhip will be pulled. Also the syndicator has indicated he will drop the show if it continues.
Here's a link where you can still watch until it gets yanked again.
