Brody's Scribbles... Rob Donaldson On Being 'Mormon from My Eyes'

By Brody Levesque (Bethesda, Maryland) June 19 | BN&S columnist Rob Donaldson has published an excellent op-ed over at gay.com. [In my not so humble opinion.]  Well, full disclosure here is warranted, Rob's a friend, but still,  you really ought to go read it for yourself.  [ Click Here Too!]

Good article. It somehow brought back a memory from decades ago. Back in the early 1950's my grandmother took in a couple of Mormon lads, who were doing their Mormon duty (I guess it was a missionary thing). This was in the Netherlands. The two were quite obviously gay, in love, and they shared a bed the whole time they lived there. My grandmother was not even remotely religious and encouraged them fully. Some 10 years later, when she came to visit us in Canada, where we had moved to about 3 years afterwards, she left for Utah and spend a full month with the guys down there. I can only imagine how difficult it must have been for them both, coming home to not only homophobia, but a place where it was illegal to be themselves. How many more people are going to suffer in the name of God because of faulty interpretations? When are 'they' going to wake up and realize that love and God are supposed to be hand in hand, and not be in hand to hand combat?
