By Tim Trent (Devon, UK) Mar 19 | I've just been watching General John Sheehan testifying to the Don't Ask Don't Tell hearing. You need to watch this, too.
What you need to remember as you watch it is this quote from The Seattle Times:Sheehan said: " European militaries deteriorated after the collapse of the Soviet Union and focused on peacekeeping because "they did not believe the Germans were going to attack again or the Soviets were coming back."Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and other nations believed there was no longer a need for an active combat capability in the militaries, he said. "They declared a peace dividend and made a conscious effort to socialize their military - that includes the unionization of their militaries, it includes open homosexuality."
So it follows that homosexuality diminishes the power and cohesion of the military, if you believe this guy. Tell that to serving British troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and try questioning their professionalism and cohesion!
I view his alleged testimony as deeply flawed enough to have brought the US Armed Forces into disrepute. He has purposely slandered all European nations and he deserves to be brought to book.
It's time to strip John Sheehan of his military pension and reduce him to the ranks.
