By Brody Levesque (Washington DC) Mar 12 | In a brief phone interview Friday, Fireworks Sports Marketing Founder & Agent Tara Modlin said that it was unfortunate that her client, Olympic figure skater and 3 time U. S. Champion Johnny Weir, was being excluded from the upcoming Stars On Ice Tour.
Responding to accusations voiced that Weir was not "family-friendly," Ms. Modlin noted that nothing could be further from the truth. In an aside she also noted that Weir speaks with his Mother daily as well as other members of his family on a frequent  basis.
In an interview given to Access Hollywood's Billy Bush yesterday, Weir himself acknowledged that;
"It’s for real,” Weir said. “All because I am not family-friendly enough. I understand I am a little outrageous, but I wish I could perform for the fans.”
Ms. Modlin however stated that her client was considering a series of shows himself as a creative outlet in lieu of that tour and that Weir was apparently excited by those prospects. She also said that although she had no knowledge of the 'family unfriendly' sentiments or who expressed them, that her client's talents and skills spoke for themselves and she was sorry that his fans would miss out on his presence on the tour. Weir himself remarked during the Billy Bush interview that;
"Maybe right now, just artistically and creatively, I’d love to have my own show, with musical acts, like maybe getting Lady Gaga! I don’t like to think there are any boundaries. Any time you get men in glitter, it’s flamboyant!”
Fireworks Sports Marketing is a New York-based sports and entertainment marketing firm with a large focus in talent management and event production in the sport of figure skating.
