Brody's Notes... DADT Supporters: Homosexuals, Thieves, & Drug Dealers Disrupt Military Readiness

By Brody Levesque (Washington DC) Feb 19 | Speaking at one of the numerous press briefings held during the opening of the CPAC conference in Washington on February 18th, Retired Admiral James Lyons told the assembled spectators and members of the Press Corps, that in the late 19th century the U. S. Navy was rife with homosexuals. The Admiral then stated that the problem was so bad that 'mothers' would not allow their sons to enlist until the Navy solved that issue. He also said that the Navy had conducted a study that found that there were three issues regarding life aboard Naval vessels that destroyed unit readiness and morale. "Homosexuals, Thieves, & Drug Dealers."
Other speakers included Tony Perkins, head of the Family Research Council, David Keene of the American Conservative Union, [Sponsor of CPAC] Penny Nance of the Concerned Women for America.
Notably absent from the roster of speakers at the briefing's podium was former U. S. Vice-President, Dick Cheney, a surprise speaker at the CPAC gathering, who has reversed his position on DADT. Cheney has been quoted as saying; "CPAC has consistently over the years championed those ideas that have made America great: limited government, free enterprise, low taxes, and a strong national defence."
