By Brody Levesque (Bethesda, Maryland) Sept 20 | I am an unabashed advocate and fan of folks using public transportation and I use Washington's Metro bus & rail system everyday. One of the aspects that draws me to riding on the system is the opportunity to indulge in my favorite pastime, people watching.
On my way to cover a story yesterday riding on a Metro bus, a Korean grandmother and her grandson boarded it. He kept a tight grip on her hand while at the same time he glanced around taking in the sights around him, which included me fussing with my camera. I happened to look up and I was so taken in by what I saw that I grabbed the quick shot you see above.
The image is so universal, no matter the language or culture, conveying the simple loving innocence and trust of a child.
